Waikanae Strike Gold at Olympic

Waikanae’s Firsts team travelled into Wakefield Park on Saturday 18 May for a crucial away game against Olympic.  Looking to continue their good form, Waikanae were off to the best of starts with early goals to Jack and Hawaiki before the 20 minute mark.  With half time approaching Olympic managed to peg a goal back to see Waikanae’s lead cut to 2-1 at the break.

Olympic were the first to score after half time to level the scores but shortly after, at the 27 minute mark, Lawrance managed to slot the winner and Waikanae held on for a significant away win 3-2.

The win sees Waikanae Firsts jointly lead the Capital 2 table on points with Parapine Upper Hutt City whom they meet on Saturday 25 May at Jim Cooke Park.  Parapine Upper Hutt are the team to beat in this grade with some comprehensive wins including a 7-1 thrashing of Stokes Valley on the weekend.  Stokes Valley remain 3rd on the table.

So get down to Jim Cooke 1 on Saturday for what promises to be an exciting match.
