Monday 27 November saw Waikanae AFC hold its AGM which summarised a very successful year for the Club in terms of membership growth and a healthy base. After presiding over a very successful period for the Club, President Charlie Sturman (pictured) announced he was stepping down from the role to spend more time with family. Charlie was thanked for his immeasurable contribution to the Club and he and his wife Dawn Sturman (also pictured) were unanimously elected Life Members of the Club. Dawn was also thanked for the considerable time & effort she has dedicated to the Club in her own right (especially for the Saturday catering) and as support for Charlie. Mary Jenkins was also thanked for her hard work catering over the past year with Dawn and her intent to carry on with the catering in 2024 which is a feature of our post matchday celebration. The election of officers saw past Vice-President Adam Price elected as President for the coming year. Tom Engelen was elected Vice-President. Other office holders elected were: Manson Jenkins (Treasurer), Bon Meiklejohn (Secretary), Ryan Leyten (Senior Convenor), Mark Jackson (Junior Convenor) and Jayden Reading (Kit Manager). Joining the executive and Charlie on the committee were Brett Morgan, Steve Pinquet, Rich Evans, Tom Ayley, Lisanne Templer, Kevin Martin, Mike Edridge and Tobi Cerhak. The Club sincerely thanks the people who volunteer their time and expertise to the successful running of the Club for our community. The Club also sincerely thanks our sponsors and the funding organisations for grants received that enable the Club to be financially viable. We are looking forward to another successful year in 2024.
