After the initial disappointment of thinking they had missed promotion by a single point, there was elation as the Ladyhawks were confirmed as promoted to Division Two for the second half of the 2022 season. This came after an impressive first round that saw them lose just one of their eight games in Division Three, and that to the undefeated Stokes Valley V-Nix. Their positive goal difference of 14, with 22 goals across eight matches, was another stat that was only bettered by Stokes Valley. The team has gone from strength to strength this season after initially struggling to gather a full squad together. In the past two seasons the team has done well to finish mid-table but with Steve Hearn picking up the coaching reins they have steadily improved throughout the season to be a genuine threat to traditionally strong club teams. Division Two will be a big step up but there are teams that Ladyhawks have encountered before and they demonstrated their potential with a first up win away to Upper Hutt at Maidstone Park on 19 June. Waikanae Football thanks all those that have worked hard to continue the good results of previous season and improve the team to where it is today. Special thanks are due to Eillish Wharrie who picked up the management role and Steve Hearn for adding his technical expertise. All the best for the remainder of the season Ladyhawks!
