WAFC Jets Gain Promotion to HK Div 1

Winners of last year’s HK Shield competition, the Waikanae Jets have capped off a stellar season with promotion to Horowhenua-Kapiti Division One next year by winning twelve of their fourteen games played under coach Dave Horton and captain Brett Morgan.  The Jets managed to tough out a final few games with an often depleted squad while still showing ability to beat defences with their passing game.  Fellow club team Hawks, and Paekakarki Central in the final round were the only two teams to inflict defeat on the Jets who conversely were the only team able to lower the colours of runners-up Otaki Purutaitama Reserves.

The Jets scored 54 goals with Golden Boot Ryan Leyten ably assisted by Brett Morgan and other members of the squad.  Young Jade Henley-McLeod was the stand out defensive player for the team.
