Waikanae Rangers take 2023 Erin Walter Cup

The 2023 Erin Walter Cup took place on 25 March with a fine day at a picturesque Otaraua Park.  A team from Miramar joined local clubs Otaki, Paekakariki, Kapiti Coast United and of course Waikanae to form two pools of six teams fighting for the honour of raising the Cup.  After the five pool games Otaki Purutaitama and Waikanae Rangers emerged as finalists after topping their respective pools.  In a keenly contested final Puru took an early 1-0 lead into the break.  With the clock ticking down Rangers found an equaliser from a corner to snatch a 1-1 draw and send the game to a penalty shoot out decider.  Rangers prevailed in the shoot out to lift the Cup.  Thanks to the organisers and the teams and supporters for a great day out that was enjoyed by all.  All the best to the teams for the season ahead.
